BUILDING SKILLS AND GETTING IEP SUPPORT SHOULDN'T BE SO HARD!

Raise your hand if this sounds like you...

  • You are relying on strangers in Facebook groups to help support you as a parent advocate -- but there appears to be no other options for support!
  • You feel like you don't know what's possible to ask for -- and you've tried asking others...but nothing sounds exactly right!
  • You don't want to be fighting with the school (who has that emotional energy?!?) -- but you just don't feel heard and you don't know why it's this hard!
  • You are continually dissapointed -- but you are still hopeful you won't have to feel like you are doing their job one day...
  • You don't necessarily have a group of friends who truly understands what you are going through -- but you would love a place to go to feel heard!
  • You don't know where to start to get a better IEP for your child -- but you know you need to get them help now!

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE LOST WHEN FIGURING OUT HOW TO ADVOCATE ANYMORE!

Get instant support and community while you learn advocacy skills drawn from 3 core pillars of parent advocacy effectiveness observed in effective parent advocates!

Here's what support looks like...

  • You have a blueprint for what approach you can use to get your child supported faster and without fighting -- and finally feel heard from your IEP team.
  • You have a community you can turn to when you feel confused or disheartened -- and it makes all the difference in your advocacy confidence!
  • Feel empowered knowing you are gaining advocacy skills you will be using until your child leaves school -- saving you hours of frustration and headaches!
  • You are able to have a clear conscience when it comes to knowing you are doing everything you can for your child -- because you becoming a better advocate directly helps them!
  • You are showing your child how to become an effective advocate -- modeling it so they can one day take over for their own effective self-advocacy!!

TheParent Advocacy Club is the only place that provides training, tools, and support based on what is actually working in schools today!

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO HAVE A FRAMEWORK FOR YOUR ADVOCACY?

Clear Guidance!

You will always know what perspective information is presented to you, and have the information you need to make the best decision for your situation. No one will ever tell you what you have to do, but solid advice will come from experiences seen first hand in over 400 IEP meetings.

Confidence!

Having enough knowledge to ask informed, educated questions makes a world of difference in getting the school's attention, yet giving you that level head to make the best decisions for your child's unique situation. Only you can be a great parent advocate for your child. Be confident you are the best advocate for them!

Take Back Your Time!

How much time are you spending worrying about how you should word a request? Or what an offhand comment meant from a school staff member? Have a go-to place to go to ask questions and get advice without posting across several Facebook groups or spending hours searching for just the right blog post that answers your question.

What are the 3 Pillars of Parent Advocacy Knowledge?

Found in observations of 400 IEP meetings from preK to graduation...

Pillar 1: Knowing the System

Let's be clear. You do NOT need to know everything about the IEP system to effectively advocate within it.

What you DO need is a solid understanding of the basics so you can ask informed questions of the IEP team if something is fishy.

Planned Topics/Tools in this Pillar:

  • Eligibility & Re-Eligibility Process
  • Goals
  • IEP Annual Review Meetings
  • Accommodations

Pillar 2: Relationships

Every effective parent advocate I observed had at least one good working relationship with a school IEP team member.

Planned Topics/Tools in this Pillar:

  • Communication Styles
  • Working with Hard-to-Work-With Case Managers
  • Request Email Templates
  • 3 Advocacy Approaches

Pillar 3: Connect with Resources

Confidence in advocacy comes from knowing your options if something doesn't go the way you'd hoped.

Planned Topics/Tools in this Pillar:

  • When to Know You Need an Advocate or Lawyer
  • Parent Rights
  • Connecting with State Resources
  • National Resource List

YOUR CHILD DESERVES AN ADVOCATE FIGHTING FOR THEM, WHO CAN SHOW THEM HOW THEY WILL SELF-ADVOCATE ONE DAY!

MEET YOUR GUIDES!

And my passion is helping parents maximize their potential as an effective parent advocate!

When I was an occupational therapist working in schools...

I started to notice some parents somehow getting the most out of their school IEP team....

Their IEPs for their children were amazing!

And their children learned and grew.

Over time, I started to notice three core pillars of skills that these parent advocates had.

I started The IEP Lab out of a growing need to share what I was seeing work best in advocating for children in the schools.

Because, don't all children deserve an amazing advocate? And who better than a parent to be that advocate??

I cannot WAIT to see your confidence grow, and best of all, your child be fully supported in school as a direct result of your efforts.

See you inside The Parent Advocacy Club (Welcome to the "PAC"!)

The IEP Lab

I LOVE cultivating safe community spaces where we can open our hearts to witness our own light inside through group discussions and mindfulness tools!

As a fellow special needs parent I have had the unique pleasure to witness when caregivers realize just how important it is to tend to their own emotions and human needs so they may better serve their family.

I know first hand what it is like to lose yourself in your child's diagnosis and the stress of learning how to navigate the IEP process. I have felt the pain and burden of having to quickly educate yourself on something that takes professionals years of study to understand. I know the worry of if you are navigating it all in the best way for your child.

As parents and caregivers we are quick to put our emotions last, however, I have seen and personally experienced just how impactful it can be to tend to our feelings and emotions so we may better navigate the winding road, with all the ups and downs, of the IEP process. It can take hard work and that's what I'm here to help you with! I'm excited to help guide you on your emotions journey in a safe and comfortable way, give you tools to stay grounded and feel empowered, and watch you feel more empowered along the way!

WHO IS THE PARENT ADVOCACY CLUB FOR?

YOU'LL LOVE THIS IF:

  • You are a parent of a child with an IEP or 504 in the public US school system
  • You don't have a formal plan for your child, but want to know if you should have one (and how to get it!)
  • You are frustrated or confused by the lack of parent support out there
  • You are motivated to learn what you can do to help yourself and your child
  • You aren't sure what you can ask for or not...or what's out there
  • You want to feel supported by parents in a similar advocacy position
  • You want to help other parents and support them in their advocacy efforts
  • You like the sound of someone who's worked on the INSIDE of the system helping you understand it!
  • You are interested in knowing more about what you can do to help the parents and children who come after you in your district/school

THIS ISN'T FOR YOU IF:

  • You are stuck in the negative and not wanting to change your perspective or knowledge
  • You want a place to vent only and not actually put in the work to change your situation
  • You don't have 1 hour/month to commit to watching/listening to the training and engaging in the group
  • You want someone to just do it all for you instead of you learning how to build your own advocacy skills

YOU MAY BE WONDERING...

Is this on-demand?

Great question! This used to be a monthly club with both on-demand and live features. However, it is now completely on-demand except for the Facebook group, which is a different kind of support (I think you know that, though!)

How do I gain access?

You will create a login for your ThriveCart learning portal after purchase. You will receive an email with the login link right after the payment screen and be able to start immediately!

What if I have a question??

Questions can be answered quickest in the Facebook group!

This is Too Good to be True! How is this so inexpensive? Is it any good?

It is the mission of The IEP Lab to provide low-cost education for parent advocates.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes! We offer a 7 day 100% happiness guarantee! We do ask for a reason in order to inform ourselves on what we need to do better and if we can resolve the issue before processing a refund.

DON'T WAIT TO GET SO FRUSTRATED WITH THE SYSTEM AND HAVE NOWHERE TO TURN!
